upcoming Municipal and Democratic Runoff Elections:
David Alameel - U.S. Senate (May 27th)
Diana Flores - DCCCD Trustee Dist. 6 (May 10th)
Miguel Solis - DISD Board Trustee Dist. 8 (May 10th)
Diana Flores serves the local community in many capacities. She represents District 6 on the Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD) Board of Trustees. She has served in this role since 1996 and is the longest-serving Latina elected official in North Texas. Trustee Flores successfully advocated for expansion of the DCCCD discrimination policy to include freedom from discrimination, harassment and retaliation on the basis of gender identity and gender expression.
Representing District 8, Miguel Solis became the youngest board member ever elected to the Dallas ISD Board of Trustees on November 5, 2013. Solis’ professional experiences include serving as a field organizer during President Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign, a Dallas ISD teacher and central staff member, and the City Director of an education non-profit organization. He currently serves as the Director of Community Affairs for a software company based in Dallas. He received his B.A. in history with a minor in political science from Lamar University and received his M. Ed. in education policy and management from Harvard University.
IMPORTANT! Texans for Equality CampaignThe Texas Stonewall Democratic Caucus (Texas Stonewall Democrats) has officially launched a campaign designed to challenge every Stonewall member in the State of Texas and our allies who support Equality to contribute to a special campaign that will raise monies for both Wendy Davis and Leticia Van de Putte.
These two women will lead our State Ticket in November as the candidates for Governor and Lt. Governor. We have intentionally designed the campaign so that everyone can participate and that effort starts NOW !
Dallas is hosting the Texas Democratic Party Convention on June 27th and 28th!
We are asking each and every Stonewall member to make a contribution to
this drive by either making 4 small monthly contributions of at least $ 25 OR,
if you prefer, just a single contribution of at least $ 100 between now and the time that the Convention rolls around in late June.
Click on the image below or go directly to our Act Blue Contribution Page !
All monies raised in our TEXANS FOR EQUALITY campaign will be distributed
equally between the campaigns for Wendy Davis and Leticia Van de Putte.
All of us recognize that Turning Texas Blue is an uphill battle and won't be easy - but we also recognize that our candidates need to raise the funds necessary to get their message out to voters this Summer and Fall !
Details on this campaign will be in our award-winning Stonewall Advocate Newsletter
and President Jay Narey will be speaking more on this at our March meeting.
