Stonewall Democrats of Dallas Demand Apology from Texas Democratic Party Chair for Harmful Remarks Against Trans Texans

The Stonewall Democrats of Dallas strongly condemn the recent comments made by Texas Democratic Party Chair Gilberto Hinojosa, implying that trans Texans bear responsibility for the disappointing losses by Democrats in Texas. This harmful and divisive rhetoric has no place in our party, especially during a time when we should be uniting to defend and uplift our most vulnerable communities.

Blaming members of the LGBTQ+ community—particularly trans Texans who already face disproportionate discrimination and hostility—is deeply irresponsible and counterproductive. The Texas Democratic Party should be a safe haven for all marginalized groups and should champion inclusion.

Our LGBTQ+ community is resilient, strong, and unwavering in our commitment to one another. We stand for all our LGBTQ+ family and will not abandon the trans community. We call on Chairman Hinojosa to issue a sincere and public apology to the LGBTQ+ community. The Texas Democratic Party deserves leadership that respects and defends all Texans, especially those who are often under attack.
